This site targets WCAG 2.1 AA. Every window in the façade is a real link and keyboard-navigable; ink-on-cream text runs at least 4.5:1 contrast; the site works with browser zoom and screen readers; motion is minimized and honored by prefers-reduced-motion. A Spanish version is being built alongside the English one — every page will carry an EN | ES toggle when the translations land.

At the museum

The 1884 building is what it is — a nineteenth-century civic hall — and full physical access has real limits. Ground-floor rooms (the Council Chamber, the Courtroom and Vault, the Fire Station, the 1891 Library Room) are reachable without stairs. Upper floors are not currently ADA-accessible. Curb ramps run to the front entrance from the 4th Avenue sidewalk. If you're planning a visit and want to know what's reachable for you specifically, please call ahead — 815-562-3040 during open hours — and a volunteer will walk you through it.
