About the Flagg Township Historical Society
The Flagg Township Historical Society was founded in 1968 to save the 1884 City & Town Hall from demolition. The city sold the building to the Society for one dollar, and the Society has held and operated it as a local-history museum ever since.
The Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all-volunteer except for a part-time Executive Director. Its mission is to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of Rochelle, Flagg Township, and the surrounding area.
